Mariela Encinas was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Growing up in Tucson exposed Mariela to the rich culture that is found within the community. She pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Law with a minor in Spanish at the University of Arizona. She aims to utilize the knowledge gained into the community to help educate those in need of help. Her professional experiences, such as her Congressional Internship with Congressman Raúl Grijalva, and her membership in Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated, helped her embrace her Latino roots and commit to helping the greater Latino community found in Tucson.
Mariela is a Prevention Wellness Coach. She works with the youth at Flowing Wells High through the Arizona Governor’s High School Health and Wellness grant. Through the Healthy Caballeros project Mariela provides substance abuse prevention services through the six primary prevention strategies.
